Anchorage Digital, home to America's first federally regulated crypto bank, announced today that it is building support for Bitcoin Staking on Stacks. The integration will let institutions earn BTC-denominated rewards on Bitcoin held at Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., with their principal remaining on Bitcoin L1 for the full term.
For institutions evaluating Bitcoin Staking, custody is a critical part of the equation, and this integration addresses it directly.
Bitcoin Staking holds participating BTC in a consensus-enforced timelock on Bitcoin L1, with the option to unlock early. The BTC is not bridged or wrapped, and the principal returns to its owner at maturity. Rewards are denominated and distributed in BTC.
Anchorage Digital is building the custody infrastructure to support institutional participation in that process:
Registration and signing on the Stacks side, including the paired STX stake, remain with the client.

The opportunity around Bitcoin is expanding as institutions look beyond holding BTC and begin evaluating ways to put it to work. For that shift to happen at an institutional level, the infrastructure has to meet institutions where they are. Custody and security remain central to how institutions manage Bitcoin and evaluate new ways to use it.
Anchorage Digital brings that infrastructure to Bitcoin Staking on Stacks. The firm's security track record spans eight years, with tens of billions of dollars in digital assets safeguarded across multiple blockchain ecosystems.

PoX-5 laid the technical foundation for Bitcoin Staking on Stacks. Anchorage Digital adds another important piece of the institutional infrastructure around it, so that more Bitcoin holders can put BTC to work while preserving the properties that made them choose Bitcoin in the first place.
We're grateful to Anchorage Digital for building alongside us, and to everyone in the ecosystem who has helped bring institutional Bitcoin Staking this far. The infrastructure is coming together one partnership at a time, and there's more ahead.
